Slackstown,USA. Population: Me

I finally started sending out my "Pay It Forward" stuff (Yes, I'm Slacky McSlackerpants from Slackstown, Alabama) and will send more soon.

You see, I'll be sending something different to each person, for a few reasons: #1 - allergies. It's "Pay It Forward", not "make 'em suffer", right? #2 - personalities. Call me old fashioned, but when given the opportunity, I like to make a persons' gift reflect them, somehow... in blog world, that's taking the very little bit that I've picked up from reading and trying to find a way to apply it to the gift.

For those of you yet to receive your gift, it won't be fancy, but hopefully it won't be a disappointment, too much. I'm spacing them out due to finances, but I promise you will get it eventually, so don't hate me!!

On a totally different note, we've got some DIY projects coming up shortly. A few trips to goodwill and I'm stocked up on a few ideas for the coming weeks (granted I need some free time, first... but that's sure to come eventually, right?). Hopefully it'll become a regular thing, this Do It Yourself, stuff, but for now... we'll start out small.

Anywho, stick around in the upcoming days - we've got the American Idol concert/meet & greet recap and some 'round the house projects coming up alongside of the usual everyday random stuff. I'll try to be better about blogging as things start to slow down a bit at work, again. Even though I haven't been writing a lot, I have still been reading. Are you kidding me?! I couldn't stay away from ya'll blogs if I had to! It's my drug of choice...

... and I think I'm okay with that. ;-) Toodles!

Stella

Here she is. I picked her up in Annapolis last night - ain't she a beaut? She's simple. Nothing too fancy - just does what she's made to do... make music.

So, I guess you could say we have some things in common, so far. :-)

I haven't really gotten to know her all that well, yet, but that will come. I'm super excited to learn how to play, and can't WAIT to get started!

But, alas... I have to wait. *sigh* She's WAY out of tune, at the moment. I can't really blame her, though - she hasn't been played in about 2 years, so... I'd probably be a bit out of tune, too.

Okay - I think I'm starting to sound a bit odd, here. Forgive me. I just wanted to introduce you two since you'll be hearing a lot more about her in the coming blogs, I'm sure.

Now that you've met, I'll be on my way for the day. If I get bored, I'll probably be back. But until then, Happy Thursday - I hope you have a blasty-blast!

That ol' Gee-Tar

Well, I found a guitar on Craigslist and *fingers crossed* I'm really hoping that this guy will get back to me... like... YESTERDAY!!!

According to the listing, he bought it for his daughter and she's only used it about two times. So he's only asking for $125. :-) I'm SUPER excited!! AND - the real kicker... McStudly said I can go for it!! Well, his actual words were "It's up to you, babe." So that means yes - SCORE!!!

I've been itching to learn since high school, so I'm really praying this will all work out. It's in the price range (really cheap) and it's WAY local (as in only about than 10 mins from our house). Here's hoping!!

Now... I just gotta figure out how to play the dang thing, if I get it!!

She's Here!!

Well, not here here... but it finally happened - We've finally been assigned our little girl through Compassion International.

This is Nester. She's from Tanzania. She's only 6 years old (yesterday, actually - that was her birthday). Also, one of her listed favorite hobbies is Singing. I guess we already have something in common!

Isn't she sweet?! I can't wait to start writing her and sending her pictures and cards. I'm told that they really treasure the pictures from their sponsors.
Apparently, living in poverty sends a message that "no one cares", and this is a message that I intend to put an end to, at least in the heart of Nester and maybe even her parents.
Well, I'm still reading up on what's going on in Tanzania, but I already know that average income for a family is around $8 a month. And it is a country in Africa that is heavily effected by AIDS and HIV.
Please pray for Nester and her family. I could definitely use some help with that. You an never pray too much for someone, right?!
And just for your reading pleasure, go here to learn some of the differences between Tanzania and the US. It's definitely an interesting read.

Well, that's about it for now. I'll let you know, occasionally, how she's doing. Also, feel free to let me know any questions you may.

Toodles!
